Let me tell you about my trip to Bali – it was exciting, refreshing, revitalizing, the whole shibang. And oh, was the surfing good.

The true beauty and innocence of a people can be seen through the eyes of the youth. As I visited Ethiopia, I saw these three unsupervised little girls, Adina, Fana and Selam, collecting leaves along the roadside in the mountain range. Although they spoke little English, and I spoke no Amharic, we had great communication and I am thankful for the things that they taught me. One of the questions I asked was why they were collecting leaves, and what they would be used for. As best as I could understand, they said they would burn the leaves to start fire for warmth for their family at night. They also were very peaceful and sweet young girls who loved each other, worked together, and did their part to support their family. Although they did not have much in material things, they have each other. It was evident in our brief interaction that that’s what matters most.
